A truly remarkable trip that takes you to Namibia‘s surreal desert landscapes, finest wildlife experiences and quirky towns. From its tiny but charming capital, Windhoek, head to the endless dunes of the 80 million year old Namib Desert where you’ll get to explore the iconic Sessriem Canyon, Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Then follow the coast north to Swakopmund, a curiously German town squeezed between the Atlantic and endless sands, and on to the rugged mountains and plains of Damaraland.

We spend our day game driving through the park and paying visits to waterholes in search of predators and animals such as zebra, giraffe, elephant and rhino. We reach our accommodation situated inside of Etosha National Park just before the sun sets. There is a beautiful floodlit waterhole that neighbours the camp. We spend the evening in twin-shared double rooms with en-suite bathroom facilities. We then sit down for supper and get an early night’s rest for the day ahead.

We then continue game driving through the park in search of the Big 4 as well as the wildlife on the plains. We reach Okaukuejo in the early evening and depart from the park just before sunset. Our camp tonight is a highly demanded camp and normally runs out on availalbility. In such cases, we will overnight just outside the park.

Day 4

Damaraland To Swakopmund

We have an early breakfast today and leave our lodge early for our journey through the communal plains of Damaraland (Kunene Region). We make a stopover at the Ugab River Bridge to pay a visit to the stunning Herero women who sell their lovely artworks in order to support their families. We indulge in a delicious lunch in the Brandberg Mountain’s shadow and pay a brief visit to the Himba group who have migrated to this region in order to sell their craft items.

Following lunch, we make our way through the Namib Desert and make a stopover at the latest shipwreck on the Skeleton Coast before reaching Swakopmund in the early evening. Please note that we do not enter Skeleton Coast Park. The detour is to give you firsthand experience of the Shipwreck.

Exploring this coastal town on foot at midday is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and you are encouraged to visit the jetty for sundowners overlooking the cold Atlantic Ocean. In the evening you can visit one of the lovely local restaurants for a delicious dinner (own expense).

We leave Swakopmund in the afternoon and travel through the Namib Desert through the Kuiseb Canyon and Solitaire. We reach our hotel in the early evening, when we will have time to unwind and bask in our gorgeous surrounds before embarking on a brief sunset walk that provides incredible vistas of the Naukluft mountain range.

Day 6

Sossusvlei, Namibia

Today we leave before sunrise to reach the Park’s gate. We then travel down an old riverbed encircled by enormous sand dunes and climb aboard 4X4 shuttles to be transferred into Sossusvlei. Here we can fully appreciate the splendour of this area, especially early in the morning, as well as bask in the quiet serenity surrounding us. We traverse this incredible region on foot before making our way into Deadvlei, comprised of an abundance of whitened and cracked clay and bare camel thorn trees that are in harsh contrast to the setting of the massive dunes with their constantly changing colours.

As we head back to our hotel, we stop over at the renowned Dune 45 where we have a chance to either hike up the dune or simply roam around its base. We make our way back to Sesriem and pay a visit to the nearby Sesriem Canyon, one of the limited permanent water sources before reaching our lodging in the early evening to witness the spectacular sunset over the vast desert.
