Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife, much of it within parks, reserves and safari areas. On the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls make a thundering 108m drop into narrow Batoka Gorge, where there’s white-water rafting and bungee-jumping. Downstream are Matusadona and Mana Pools national parks, home to hippos, rhinos and birdlife.

From the rare natural wonders of the Cape Floristic Region (the smallest of the world’s six recognized floristic kingdoms, or phytochorions) to the wineries and elegant Old Dutch-style hostelries of the Cape Winelands, from the urban pizazz of Cape Town to the fabulously but imaginatively luxurious lodges of the private, serene, wildlife-rich Sabi Sands and Singita concessions on the border of famed Kruger National Park, South Africa lives up to its unofficial motto, A World in One Country.
